Published Applications and Desktops (Horizon) is being decommissioned TODAY
What is being done? The Published Applications and Desktops service, also known as Horizon, is being decommissioned TODAY. It is replaced by the Published Applications service.
When is this being done? From approximately 16:00 on 30th September 2026 all access via Horizon will be withdrawn.
Who will be affected? All staff and students.
How will this affect service users? Applications hosted via the Horizon service will no longer be available. Users of the Horizon service must switch to the Published Applications Service. Guidance is available on the intranet.
SIMS client users. The Student Record system (SIMS/SITS) cannot be hosted on the Published Applications Service, though this might change in the future. The SIMS client is already available to existing users via the Remote Application Service (new). Guidance for staff only is available on the intranet.
Why is this being done? The Horizon service is being retired as we have reached the end of the hardware and software support agreement with the supplier.
