Queen’s Buildings Power Outages: IT Services Interrupted and At Risk 11/09/23 - 22/09/23

What is being done?

11/09/2023 - 22/09/2023: IT services in Queen’s Central will be interrupted in select locations between 17:00 and 06:00 each night, due to essential electricity works by the Estates department. The School of Engineering is circulating details of these electrical power interruptions to building users in Engineering, in partnership with Estates. All IT services in Queen’s Central which use mains power will be affected according to the schedule of locations and dates circulated by Estates and the School.

12/09/2023 - 13/09/2023 - IT network access in all of the Queen’s Buildings plus EastGate House, Gordon Hall and 11 East Grove will be at risk for approximately two hours, between 23:59 and 02:00 hours on the night of 12/09/2023 to 13/09/2023. An interruption is unlikely, but could affect all equipment using IT networks in those buildings. This may include all wired and wireless IT networks, telephone services, CCTV, buildings energy management systems, and building fire alarms could be temporarily disconnected from University central Security services.
Who will this affect?
All Staff and Students using IT and network services in the buildings, whether on-site or via remote access.

How will this affect IT service users?
Please see above. IT service users accessing these buildings are advised to save their work regularly during this period.
