What is being done?
Due to essential electrical maintenance work by Estates on Sunday 17/09/2023, the following IT services will be unavailable at the following dates and times, as preparations are made for the power outage. --- Wednesday 13/09/2023, 07:00-08:00 hrs: Hosted databases
A number of services which are dependent on University hosted databases will be unavailable between the above times. Please see Annex 1 below for a fuller list. However all IT services should be considered at risk, and service users are advised to save their work regularly during this time. --- Friday 15/09/2023, 15:00 hrs - Monday 18/09/2023, 17:00 hrs: Hawk Supercomputer and supporting ARCCA services hosted at Redwood Building
The following will be unavailable between the above dates and times: • Hawk compute and login systems, including local file system storage. • ARCCA hosted virtual machines. • Research 'Gluster' data storage systems and other ARCCA managed research storage systems (this does not include the University's RDS service). • Sparrow data analytics system. • MySCW web portal. --- Friday 15/09/2023, 17:00 hrs - Monday 18/09/2023, 09:00 hrs: Selected Horizon Remote Access Applications
A number of applications accessed remotely through the Horizon service will be unavailable. Please see Annex 2 below for a list of applications that will be unavailable. --- Sunday 17/09/2023, 06:30 to 13:00 hrs: Redwood Power Outage
• All IT services in Redwood which use mains power will be unavailable, whether accessed on site or remotely. • The following buildings, which receive their network services from Redwood, will have no network connection (wired or wireless): o Redwood, o Bute, o Glamorgan, o 2 North Road, o 8-10 North Road, o 5-7 Corbett Road. ---
Who will this affect? All users of the services above.
Why is it being done? This forms part of Estates maintenance activities. University IT is working closely with Estates to minimise impact to service users. We apologise for any inconvenience and for the short notice, which is due to the essential and urgent nature of the electrical work.
